Catching up

It has been a long time since my last post. Dax is growing up. He is now a year old. I can't believe how time flies. He is getting so big. He practically runs around the house, and is always into mischief. He is a lot of fun. He says Dad, but is still teasing me and will not say Mom. He loves to sing, dance, play outside, swing, carry his pony around the house, and tease Mom with Dads help.

I started a new job working at the Cancer Center. I am loving it. I am learning more every day. It is hard seeing people going through cancer, but at the same time it is very rewarding.

Daniel is staying busy. He has been helping out more at the farm. We have bought a couple of cows this year, and hoping to buy more and expand our herd. He loves to work with the calves.

Update!!

So here is an update since the last post!! Daxton is growing big. He is now 9 lbs 15 oz. He is growing into a little man. He is starting to smile lots and wanting to play. His daddy can't get enough of him. He had is first illness, the FLU. It was not fun at all. He already cries a lot, but those couple of days he cried tons. Our life revolves around him. We recently went on his first long distance trip. We went to visit my sister and her family in Wyoming. We were able to see my neices ride in a rodeo. Dax wasn't quite sure he liked the windy rodeo. We had a lot of fun with them. We have went to the cabin in Alton now 2 times. The first time was hard for Dax, but the last time he did really well. He is finally only waking up once a night. It is nice to get some sleep. Dax was blessed on June 6th in Beaver by his Papa Hanley. It was fun to have all the family together.

Dr. Apptointment today

So Daxton is now 6 weeks old. We take him to the pediatrician every friday to check his weight. He now weighs 8 lbs even. He is supposed to be gaining an ounce a day and this week he only gained 2 oz. We are going to be giving even more calories then we were before. And of course I end up with the stomach flu. I don't remember the last time I had a flu. Since Dax's immune system is not that great, Grandma gets to watch him today. It has been really weird not having him around.

Daxton at Home!!

Pictures!!

Here are pictures that I finally downloaded.

WERE HOME!!!!

Sorry I haven't kept up on the blog, but we are home. We have been home for a week and a half. I am so excited to finally be home. We came home with a feeding tube but he doesn't have to have it anymore. He is still eating good. He has his good days and bad days which I am sure every baby has. Today he found his hair and he couldn't figure out how to let go of it or why he was hurting. I had to help him let go. It was so funny. He has grown 1 1/4" inches since birth and 1 lb 1 oz. He is now up to
7 lbs 14 oz. He has his days and nights kinda mixed up, but is getting better. We love him and glad he is home.

Not so great of a day!

So today hasn't been a very good day. Daxton is not eating much at all. He is mostly getting fed by tube. It has been a very frustrating day for both Daniel and I.We have no idea how to make things go smoother for him. He gets so angry and then tired. We am hoping things get better soon.

Great Day!!

So today was a great day. Dax started to breastfeed and he actually likes it. He does so much better breastfeeding then with a bottle. Hopefully he keeps it up so we can go home!!!

Update!

So we are now feeding. This is taking some time. He is having a hard time knowing how time with the suck, swallow, breathe technique. He is growing and doing well otherwise. It sounds like we will be coming home in the next couple of weeks. He still is as stubborn as ever. He likes to show us his temper at least 4 or 5 times a day. He is almost to full feeds and as long as he keeps most of that down then we will be on our way home.

Done with surgery on to the next step!!

So Daxton had surgery on Tuesday afternoon. It went really well and is now done with the silo. He is quite sedated still today but he is doing really well. They are weening him off the breathing tube, and hopefully it will be gone Friday. It is funny how we get excited about the smallest things. He had his first bowel movement today. He is headed in the right direction. It sounds like we will be going home the by the end of April. That would be great.

HE FINALLY ARRIVED!!!

So he finally made it here. He was born on March 25th at 10:50pm. The cord was wrapped around his neck and they had to revive him, but he is doing well. He is on a vent until his body heals more. He was 6 lbs 13 oz and 19 1/4" long. He has long dark hair and tons of it. He has a rough road ahead of him but is doing well so far. We are hoping for surgery either tonight or tomorrow. I will keep you informed. Dad and I are both doing well. We just can't wait to hold our little one and take him home.

Last appointment!!

So we had our last appointment today. We had a non-stress test and fluid check. Normally the non-stress tests take about 30 minutes, but today our little one didn't take a rest so we were there for an hour. Finally he slowed down enough for only 3 minutes the whole hour though. The fluid check was really good. We found that his second toe on his right foot is longer than is big toe. I am not sure were that came from, not me. So we are scheduled for induction on Wednesday on 2 days left. They are going to induce me at 7:30pm on Wednesday so sometime Thursday morning our little will for sure be here. We are so excited, but a little nervous at the same time because we have no idea what the next few weeks are going to bring.

Best Doctor's appointment yet!

So we just got back from the doctor and it was the best one we have had yet. We had a non-stress test and checked the fluid around the baby. Both were really good. He was moving like crazy only resting for seconds at a time. We actually were able to come home right after the tests and not stay for extra observations. We only have 2 more doctor's appointments and then it is time to be started. We are so excited!!!

So far in Salt Lake City....

So I now am living here in Salt Lake City. I have been here for 2 weeks tomorrow. I see the Doctor 2 times a week to check on the baby. So far since I have been here I have been to Labor and Delivery 4 times. Two times because I chose to go for the pain, and the other 2 times were because the Doctor wanted to observe me longer. The last time I was in Labor and Delivery for over 5 hours because my blood pressure would not go down and the babies heartrate was way too high. So I was put back on very STRICT BEDREST. I literally can only get up from laying down to use the bathroom and take a brief shower everyday. I have to check my blood pressure often and if it goes above 140/90 I am to go back to the hospital. We are hoping that this little one holds out just a little longer. I am going to be induced on March 24th at 7:30pm if we make that long. Crazy that is only a week and a half a way. I can't wait to see this little one.

Bedrest Begins!

So as of Tuesday the 26th I am on bedrest until the baby comes. I am only 29 weeks along. The last few days have been quite boring. I am trying to keep myself busy by watching tv, reading, writing thank you cards, and of course playing on the internet. I have mostly been looking at baby stuff. Hopefully he stays in there a little longer I am not ready for him to come and he is too little.

New Blog

So It was suggested to me that we start a blog to let everyone know how things are going since we have a few crazy months ahead. So I decided to do it. So here we go.
The next few months will be busy with having a new baby with a birth defect. We are having a little boy. He has a defect called Gastroschsis. Which means that his intestines are on the outside of his body. He will be born in Salt Lake and spend around 8 weeks in Primary Childrens. We are nervous and excited all at once. So I will try and keep this blog up to date so that you will know the progress.
